Before I had even attempted to photograph people professionally, nevermind trying my hand at newborn photography, one of my friends, Lindsay, had a baby. Lindsay and I have been friends since 2003 and have been by each other’s side for all of those important life adventures.

In July 2014, Lindsay gave birth to little Nathan. I was over the moon excited, as she was one of my first close friends to have a baby. I made the trip to Lindsay and her now-husband, Shyam’s home in Hamilton, Ontario to congratulate them and to meet the little man.

I’d brought my camera along, hoping that I would be able to capture fond memories for them from my visit. Lindsay and Shyam were overjoyed with the resulting photographs of Nathan and proudly displayed them around their home.

Fast-forward to February 2016, Lindsay welcomed Nathan’s baby sister, Selina, to the world. She was his mini me! I couldn’t get over how similar they looked as newborns! Gorgeous eyes, beautiful mocha skin and a full head of hair – what’s not to love about newborns? If one thing was for certain, it’s that Lindsay and her husband Shyam make really cute babies!

This time around, Lindsay and Shyam had caught wind that I had recently launched my business, Melissa Shearer Photography.  Being the amazingly supportive friends that they are, they were interested in hiring me for my newborn photography services. I was more than happy to step up and try my hand once more at capturing this family’s newest bundle of joy. Once again, they were completely overjoyed with the final product and that I was able to capture beautiful photos of their new daughter.  I was ecstatic that they put their faith in me to be in charge of capturing these special times in their lives!
